The goal of CoherentPaas is to provide innovation in the form of marketable solutions that can fully address the issues related to today´s data management trends by developing a coherent and rich PaaS with a common programming model.

CoherentPaaS was established in response to the major trend in the cloud computing ecosystem, i.e. fast growing PaaS segment. The project aims to satisfy the requirements for PaaS adoption posed by modern enterprises in order to create competitive products in the yet immature PaaS market. CoherentPaas fully addresses those requirements by providing Full ACID consistency in NoSQL data stores, technology exploited by most Internet giants. It also targets Machine-To-Machine market, which is estimated to reach $1.2 Trillion by 2022. CoherentPaas combines CEP with SQL and NoSQL, enabling seamless creation of M2M applications.

The project started in 2013 as a collaboration of eleven companies and academic institutions. For its estimated duration of three years, CoherentPaaS has managed to fully address its technical and commercialization goals leading to establishment of a spinoff, LeanXcale, that commercializes some of the core results of the project such as the ultra-scalable database and the polyglot capabilities and the ultra-scalable transactional management system that can be integrated with third-party data stores. Part of the storage technology developed in the context of the project has also been licensed to a spinoff of another partner of the project, IOFabric.

The research and commercialization efforts conducted during the CoherentPaaS project, have been funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no 611068.
